Akanksha Mehta, M.D., is a Fellow in Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery at the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery, as well as a Clinical Instructor in Urology at the James Buchanan Brady Foundation Department of Urology at Weill-Cornell Medical College. Dr. Mehta is a member of the American Urologic Association, the American Society of Andrology, and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction. In addition to her clinical responsibilities during Fellowship, Dr. Mehta will be involved in clinical as well as basic science research at both Weill-Cornell Medical College and Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Mehta joined the staff at Weill-Cornell Medical College after completing her Residency in Urology at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, under the direction of Dr. Mark Sigman. Dr. Mehta's research interests during Residency included not only male infertility and male sexual function, but also pediatric urology. She has authored several chapters and peer-reviewed publications in these areas, and has presented at both regional and national meetings.

Dr. Mehta graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, with a B.Sc, in Biology and a B.A. in International Relations. Her senior honors thesis focused on the design of a DNA-based vaccine for Tuberculosis. She then attended Brown Medical School, where she continued to be involved in research in Infectious Diseases, and was the recipient of medical student awards for research, academic excellence, and research presentations at local and international meetings.

Outside of Urology and Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Mehta maintains a keen interest in International Health; she has been involved in providing clinical care in Cambodia and Kenya, and has recently completed a medical mission in Pediatric Urology to Bangladesh.

Dr. Mehta is married.
